| International Awale Tournament | | Palais Des Festivals, 6th - 7th March 2010 | | | | The 13th International Awale Tournament is to be held at the 24th International Games Festival Cannes (South of France). For more information contact us admin@oware.org | | |    | | | | After a long rain of incumbent champions was broken last year by Micheal Mendes. It was continued and extended this year for the first three positioned players were all new players to International Awale Tournaments. Players who had participated in the 2006 MSO Oware Tournament in London had honned their skills and came back in strenght to dominate proceedings.
What is amazing is that the Cape Verdean community in the South of France always manages to field a player who does better than the last incumbent, showing the depth of players they have. Despite this, this year belonged to the players from Khazakstan. As they swept most players who came their way to claimed 2 of the top 3 positions 1st and 3rd. It was only Neol Mendez Sanchez a new player to this competition from the Cape Verdean community who separated them from a clean 1,2 sweep. A proverbial wind has been blown on the Awale community from the East, the question is is this a sign of things to come, we wait to see. |
